10 Personal Touches for a Wedding Celebration

Royal Affairs Ballroom

Updated: Feb 10

When people get married, they join their lives together for the future. There is their life before they knew each other, and their new life together. Ahead is the future where their lives intertwine. A wedding and reception is a beautiful chance to tell the story of the two lives before and a picture of what is to come. Weaving the story of life throughout the wedding is a unique way to create the theme you desire.

There are many ways to add personal touches to your wedding, such as sharing your love story with guests. We love seeing the creativity of our clients as they personalize the Royal Affairs Ballroom to invite guests into their lives with special details. Here are 10 ideas we have seen that you might want to use for your wedding, reception, birthday, or anniversary celebration to make it unique to you and yours.

Let’s look at 10 fun ways to weave your love story into your special day.

A globe guest book is a fun way to reflect on where the bride and groom were born, where they met, where they have traveled, and where all of their loved ones are from. The globe can be used for guests to sign where they are also from or they can sign somewhere where they would love to see you travel. This guest book is perfect for those who love to travel.

Photos throughout the venue

When clients use photos throughout the venue, the guests love to mingle and see all of the photos. This is especially helpful if there is a break in time from when guests arrive to when the bride and groom make their entrance. The photos provide an opportunity to showcase special occasions in the love story and to give guests something to talk about while they wait. Some additional tips with photos:

  • Use them on the food table to reflect the bride and groom’s favorites

  • Use them to decorate each table and include information about why the favorite memory is included

  • Use them to show guests who are no longer with us

  • Use them at the cocktail bar with the bride’s favorite beverage and the groom’s favorite beverage

Travel photo book for guests to sign

Create a travel photo album from the bride and groom’s adventures together to use as a guest book to sign at the entry. It doubles as a great keepsake because you will love looking back on your favorite memories, and you will love seeing who attended your wedding.

Does the bride love flowers? Use beautiful watercolor postcards as a guest book to be signed. Each guest signs a beautiful card and they can be put into a keepsake book that is lovely to reflect on.

Personalized cocktail napkins

Personalized cocktail napkins with details about the bride and groom are always a hit. Include things like:

  • Favorite karaoke song

  • Favorite dance song

  • Favorite sports team

  • Lifelong dream

  • Favorite color

  • Favorite drink, candy, snack food, etc.

  • How the couple met

  • First thoughts of each other when they met

  • I knew she/he was the one when…

Memoriam photo wall

There are many ways to include a memorial photo wall. With families, there are often people absent that are missed greatly. Create a display with photos showcasing the people you love who are no longer with you. Include photos of your loved one, and be sure to include your favorite photos with that person.

The Polaroid guest book is a fun way to get your guests involved in something at the venue while they wait for the bridal party to arrive. Ask guests to take a photo on a cute Polaroid or other print-on-demand camera. Then have them sign their name on the image as a memento to be placed in a photo album to reflect on for years to come.

Include your favorite snacks in individual packages for guests when they leave. The bride and groom can pick their favorite snack or treat as a way to show the guests what they love. It almost guarantees that everyone will leave with something they like.

We love this idea to welcome the littlest guests to the celebration. Each kid attending the ceremony and reception receives a cute bag full of things to color and play with. This is a great way to help little ones enjoy the party and keep them entertained.

We love a family tree that shows the roots of each family. This type of display helps guests to connect the dots on both sides of the family. There are so many cute options on Etsy to create a customized family tree.

Personal touches are needed at the reception to enable guests to connect to your love story. Adding in things that reflect both bride and groom enables those we know and love to celebrate well. We love to share special days with our clients as they begin their new life together, and we love to see the unique ways they add personal touches to their special celebrations.
