5 Reasons We Love Spring & Summer Weddings

There are many reasons to love a spring or summer wedding. Once Daylight Saving Time ends, there are more sunlight hours in the day to enjoy the outdoors, making it seem like there’s more time to celebrate. In addition to more sunlight hours, something is refreshing about everything coming back to life after fall and winter. The trees grow green with new leaves, and the grass turns green from brown and dry. It is as if everything awakes from slumber and suddenly is ready to celebrate.

While spring and summer are great seasons to celebrate the marriage of two people, did you know that the most popular month for weddings is September? According to The Knot, in 2023, September and October tied for the most popular months to say “I do!” (source) June takes second place, and April and November tie for third.

What makes spring and summer so great to get married? That answer depends on the individual, but we have some ideas about why we love spring and summer weddings. Let’s look at what’s to love about summer wedding celebrations.

  1. Longer days

  2. Outdoor celebrations

  3. Brighter color palettes

  4. Easier travel

  5. Predictable weather

Longer Days

There shouldn’t be much to explain this other than we love having more daylight hours. This allows for beautiful photos on the Royal Affairs Rooftop that overlooks the beautiful Old Town Lewisville Main Street. Longer days mean more celebrating, more fun, and more memories on your most special day.

While the sun is out around 7:00 am., it sets 12 hours later. These hours grow until June when we enjoy our longest day of sunlight, and then the days begin to shorten again.

Outdoor Celebrations

Outdoor celebrations are a possibility in Texas with our lovely weather year-round There are times when the weather can be unpredictable, and that can be challenging when planning any kind of outdoor celebration. Something unique about the Royal Affairs Ballroom is that we have both indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate a plan B in case there is inclement weather.

If your heart is set on an outdoor reception, take it to our rooftop where you can dance the night away under the stars overlooking Main Street. You can comfortably enjoy the outdoor space knowing you can retreat to the ballroom if a storm rolls in.

Brighter Color Palette

When it’s spring, colors are brighter. The grass changes to a brighter shade of green, and the flowers that thrive in warmer temperatures often boast vivid, more vibrant colors. The beauty of spring is that you have every color in the rainbow to choose from with flowers and decorations.

Be inspired to think creatively about what you love when it comes to selecting the colors for your wedding. Is there a favorite painting with colors that brighten your mood? Use that to prompt creativity when deciding on the perfect palette.

Do you have a treasured scarf or article of clothing that brings color to life? Bring it to your floral consultation to select the colors that most embody the feel you’re looking for at your wedding.

Our favorite colors for spring 2025 are palettes focusing on brilliant shades of pink, coral, red, fuschia, and white.

Easier Travel

One of the best things about spring and summer weddings is that travel is much easier for individuals through these months. Many people plan to travel during the summer months anyway, so planning a wedding with a lot of out-of-town guests will be easier to pull off during these months. If you’re considering a destination wedding, this is especially true.

Predictable Weather

Texas has great weather, and for the most part, it is predictable. During spring and summer, it becomes easier to know that you’ll have good weather for any type of wedding or reception. One thing about Texas is that summer is hot, but in May (late spring) and June (early summer), a wedding weekend may provide a pleasant surprise with good, temperate weather. Even though during this month (February), we had temperatures in the 80s for several days in a row in the middle of winter, it could be a hot summer that lies ahead of us.
